32 week update

We have now reached the 32 week mark which is a very happy and safe place to be.  Should the baby decide to come, she would be able to survive on her own without severe medical complications.  However, we want that baby to keep cooking until she's "extra crispy" as Tom would say.  I don't want to jinx it, but so far my third trimester has been almost easier than my second trimester - which is a weird phenomena. The back pain that I was experiencing in my second tri is gone and only returns if I'm standing or walking for too long or if I'm sitting a funky way. Perhaps I've just gotten better at knowing when to rest and when to get up.  I have started to notice that my hands and feet get puffy at the end of the day. My little toes look like sausages sometimes. I'm pretty much relegated to flip flops these days - thank goodness it's summertime!

At my last doctor's appointment, she listened to the baby's heartbeat which was very strong and checked my glucose and protein levels. She said everything was textbook. My doctor joked with me that I shouldn't tell my friends what an easy time I'm having because they'll hate me. The baby is getting much stronger and I can feel her moving all the time now.  I can even feel her when I'm in the car and moving around.  My only complaint is the iron pills that I need to take everyday.  They make my stomach upset and grumbly, but it's worth it to make sure I'm getting enough iron. I am going to try a brand that our birthing teacher recommended and hopefully it will have better results.

We had such a great time at our baby shower and we've finally put away all of the stuff we've received.  We still need to get some essentials, but the baby's room is really coming together. I am really looking forward to the quilt that Camille is making for us - it will really complete her room. I am still searching for sheets for the baby crib since we bought a European non-standard sized crib (blarg!).  I might have to sew something together to make it work. I will post some pictures once we are all finished.

Only 3 more weeks until I start my maternity leave. I'm really looking forward to having some time to relax and to get all those little things done (like pack a hospital bag). I'm hoping to get some of my projects done before the baby arrives, because God knows I won't have time when she is born. We are going to have a busy next couple of weeks, including a maternity photo shoot, two weddings, two more baby showers and Father's Day.  Here's to hoping our little one keeps to her scheduled timeline!
