Things seem to be happening quite fast and furious over the last few weeks. I think this pace is going to remain until our little one arrives as the "to-do" lists are long and the days are short, despite the summer solstice. I will do my best to recap the highlights of the past few weeks.
On June 8th, we attended the wedding of my co-worker and good friend Mary Hart at Roaring Camp Railroads. I wasn't quite sure what to expect as I had never been before and it was seemingly a place that my train-loving father would pick. It was a beautiful venue and Mary and Julian were married outside under a large oak tree. Their reception was inside a large barn that was decorated for an old-fashioned BBQ. Every little detail was "presh" as Mary would say. She even had a dessert bar, which if you know her is very "Mary". A large majority of our coworkers attended the wedding and we took over two tables in the back. We had a great time hang out, eating and dancing. Baby J even allowed me to break some moves on the dance floor.

The following Monday, the PAIRE gang threw a dual-baby shower for Tom and I and my co-worker Daniel and his wife Tina. Daniel and Tina are having a baby girl in late September so they decided it would be fun to celebrate us at the same time. PAIRE events are getting quite elaborate and there were weeks of planning and hushed whispering and even boisterous cackling that went into this shower. Daniel and I were banned from the kitchen on Monday, which just meant that we got to have a "slave" for the day to bring us our water and lunches. The shower was amazing and looked like something out of Pinterest. Michelle baked dozens of homemade cupcakes and we had ice cream sundaes and pink lemon-aid out of champagne glasses. For the games, we played Family Feud, The Price is Right and Jeopardy all tailored to baby themed questions. My coworkers are quite competitive and really got into the games which made it really fun. For Jeopardy, they made the moms play against the dads - and the moms won naturally. I did learn that Tom and I really need to brush up on our nursery rhyme lyrics before we become parents!

On June 16th, we made our way to Chico for the wedding of our friends Suing and Jordan. Tom has known Suing and Jordan since High School and we have recently reconnected with them since they now live in Cupertino. We love getting together with them and other friends for our Game Nights which are becoming a staple. Suing and Jordan were married outside in Jordan's parents backyard. It was a beautiful ceremony despite the 106 degree heat! The wedding party did an amazing job of looking cool and composed while most of the guests huddled in the back under the shade and near the fans (including me). Their reception was held at Sierra Nevada Brewing Company in the Big Room. It was an amazing reception, with great food and beautiful details and decorating. Suing and Jordan know how to party and got their guests on the dance floor early. It was hilarious to see both of their parents showing up the guests on the dance floor!

On Sunday, the Jaureguis threw us our third and final baby shower. Claire and Joey were down visiting from Seattle and it worked out that we were all in town. Claire and Joey hosted a really fun brunch & pool party for us at Paula & Greg's house (Joey's parents). It was very low-key which I appreciated after all the busyness of the past few weeks. We stuffed ourselves with delicious breakfast food and hung out by the pool. Let me just say that the pool became my best friend while I was in Chico! Pregnant women are hot enough without having to endure triple digit heat. Tom's cousin Joanna was in town and she and her husband are also expecting a little boy in September. That makes three new babies for the Jauregui family this year! It was great to have everyone together and a really nice way to celebrate both upcoming babies. Everyone has been so generous to us and we couldn't be more thankful.

In other news, I started my maternity leave as of Monday (yay!). I would love to say I've been kicking my feet up and relaxing, but we have so much to do to get ready for the baby still. I am still working on washing and putting away all her baby things and getting her room ready. Tom and I are working on writing our birth plan and need to pack a hospital bag ASAP. There are lots of little chores and projects that I'd love to get done before she comes, but I'm working on what absolutely has to get done first. Once I get a few things crossed off my list I'm sure I'll start to relax and start focusing on getting ready, physically and mentally, for the baby. Only four more weeks until her due date! I'm hoping she hangs in there because this momma has a lot to get done. If she is true to her Jauregui name, she'll want to "sleep in" as long as she can.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous!!! Roaring Camp!!!!!!!!! You were there with CP, DP, Gma and Gpa (and us of course)when you were just a bit older than your little one. :) You have had a busy few weeks. Hope you can relax soon.
