Spring Break

Over spring break Ellie and I braved the blue skies and flew to Eugene to visit the grandparents.  It was our first trip without Tom and I was pretty nervous.  The last time we flew Ellie was 5 months old and was a lot less active.  I thought it would be wise to book flights around times that she is normally napping so that she would sleep on the flight, however this totally backfired.  On the flight up she was all over everything.  I mean everything. The seats, the TSA manuals, the magazines, the bathroom...everything. Luckily it was an empty flight and there was no one next to us so it didn't matter if she spewed over into the seat next to us. We made it though without too much damage.

Tia Cece and Tia Xochitl made the trip down and we had a great time celebrating Easter with Mamanina, Poppy and the Ayalas.  It was the first time Ellie was able to meet the Ayala cousins and she loved them.  She loves being around other kids and she has a good time trying to keep up with her bigger and faster cousins.

We took Ellie swimming for the first time at Tamarack pool and she LOVED it!  She was a natural and immediately starting kicking and moving her arms.  She even got her face underwater and thought it was funny.  We did it several times and she didn't even seem to mind.  I notice now that she occasionally does it in the bathtub so she must enjoy it.  It's unfortunate that we don't have a warm indoor pool like this at home, but I am looking into pools in our area so we can keep up our swimming skills!

The Gilmore Girls were kind enough to come visit me in Eugene for the day. We had a great time hanging out at Rosa's house just playing and eating lunch.  Not all of us are here (missing Genny and a few kids in this photo) but as you can see we are getting quite big!

The girls!
The boys had a really fun time playing in the backyard.  They lost a frisbee over the fence and then spent the rest of the time building a machine to go over and get it. Smart boys!

How many boys can you fit in a box??

We spent the rest of our week hanging out with Poppy and Mamanina, enjoying the parks, some running for me and hanging out at some old haunts. Once she got over her separation anxiety Ellie had a really good time with her grandparents.  They enjoyed her from sunrise to sunset - literally. It was so nice to have a long period of time with them versus the sort spurts we normally get.  It's sooo dreamy having family around. At the end of the week, we missed our papa and after a long much delayed flight we were happy to be home. Now that we are seasoned travelers I am sure we'll do it again soon.
