Three months

It has been warm and beautiful here in San Jose and we have celebrated by spending as much time outside as possible. We have started walking after dinner now that it is light later and have subsequently pushed Ellie's bedtime later to accommodate.  It seems inhuman to make her go to bed when it is so light and gorgeous outside. Tom and Ellie have also been enjoying working out in the backyard after dinner.  Tom is still working on sifting through the dirt to get me the grass he promised. Ellie loves to help him sort rocks and play in the dirt.  We haven't gotten around to planting our garden yet but we just harvested a whole bowl full of beautiful red strawberries.  They are doing quite well despite our neglect. Summer feels like it's right around the corner!

In baby news, Abby turned three months last week. She continues to grow like a weed and my inner mommy cries a little inside when she outgrows another piece of clothing. She is really starting to chub out and has gained another pound and grown an inch since last month.  She now can completely hold her head up on her own and she is pretty stable sitting up.  Today at our play date I put her in the Bumbo chair and she sat right up and was really happy chilling out. She can also hold up her own weight when you stand her up.  She is going to be strong! She has also started rolling onto her side which is funny to watch.  She kicks her legs up and then swings them over, giving herself enough momentum to roll onto her side.  I'm sure she'll be rolling all the way over really soon. I am glad these small milestones still amuse me as I wasn't sure they would having gone through it all before. I have to remember to give her time to "lay out" when Ellie isn't around because Ellie gets excited and wants to lay on her or snuggle her. She is without a doubt the most smiley baby I have ever met.  She is constantly flashing us smiles and babbling at us.  There have been a couple of times when it almost sounds like she is laughing so that is probably right around the corner as well. I have nicknamed her Happy Abby which seems to suit her.

We have now entered the mouthing stage as she will put anything in her mouth that is close enough for her to reach.  She can grab onto toys that are right in front of her and hold onto them. She drools a TON, way more than I remember Ellie ever doing and when she gets going she can soak her onesie halfway down to her bellybutton. She is still eating really well but hasn't quite fallen into a schedule.  She is staying awake more during the day but is taking short and frequent naps.  She is still doing really well at night only waking up once to eat (knock on wood).

Here are her three month stats:
Height: 25 inches
Weight: 13lbs 3oz
Head circumference: 41 cm

This month we celebrated my grandmother's 90th birthday! Her children hosted a birthday diner in her honor at California Cafe and our family and close friends were in attendance. We had a great time and it was a wonderful way to honor our Great. The girls were on best behavior which was easy for Ellie because there was a "goggie" to play with. Easter is right around the corner and I am looking forward to planning an egg hunt for her.  I think she is old enough to really enjoy it this year and my Grandma has invited us to do it over at her house.  I have very fond memories of hunting for eggs in her backyard so it will be really fun to watch Ellie experience the same.  Here are some pictures from the past month.
