Abby has become much more alert to her world and is staying awake for longer periods of time. She has somewhat fallen into a routine in which she'll take a longer nap in the morning and in the afternoon. We usually go to bed by 10:30-11:00pm and she'll wake up every 3-4 hours. We've even had some 6-7 hour stretches so she's starting to go longer and longer at night. Fingers crossed that this trend continues. She has pretty good head control now and she can sit up if you are holding her with just a little slouching. She smiles all the time and coos and babbles at us. The evenings are especially fun when we can focus on her and spend more time snuggling. She is starting to loose her baby hair and is getting "the ring" around her head where her head wears on the bed or whatever she's laying on. I try to keep her upright as much as possible but this is inevitable. We still aren't sure what color her eyes will be but they are starting to lighten up. They look like they might be blue but sometimes it looks like they are turning brown. Ellie's eyes had changed color by now so it's hard to say how long it will take.
Here are her two month stats:
Height: 24 inches
Weight: 12lbs 3oz
Head circumference: 40.6 cm
I feel like we have fallen into a pretty good routine at home. I feel pretty confident about taking both of the girls out and about and we are usually out of the house twice a day now. Most days its the park in the morning or a play date and a walk in the afternoon/evening. Ellie has been helping Tom out in the garden in the evenings now that the days are getting longer. She loves playing outside in the dirt and comes in completely covered from head to toe. Just in time for bath time! Tom is working on putting grass in the back of our house so we'll have somewhere to play. I am really looking forward to setting up the water table and sprinkler in the summer. There are so many fun art projects I want to do with Ellie that I would want to do in our current set up. Hopefully it will get done in time for the warm weather.
I have joined the Las Madres mom's group for Abby's year but I haven't been able to make any play dates yet because there is nothing on the calendar that I can bring both girls to. So far its been coffee dates and stroller walks - both of which Ellie would not sit well through. I have invited them to the park when we go but only the moms with older kids have come so far. I don't think we'll be able to do much with them until the babies are older and doing more activities. I imagined it would be this way when I signed up but I wanted to make friends with moms with kids Abby's age so when Ellie goes off to school we'll still have friends to play with.
That's pretty much it for now. We've basically just been in survival mode not doing much but the day to day basics. We've had some fun visits from family and friends and we'll probably venture out of the house on our first trip to Chico next month. There are still so many people that Abby hasn't met yet. Ellie hasn't been on a long car ride in awhile so hopefully it goes well. We may have to employ a little iPad action in order to stay sane. Here are some pictures of the girls from this last month.
