The Hungriest Caterpillar

We were very excited to celebrate Ellie's first real holiday and even better that it should happen to be Halloween. I wanted her first Halloween costume to be special and not a flimsy store bought costume that we would likely get rid of next year. I was shopping around on Etsy and saw this very cute Hungriest Caterpillar knitted hat and it just had to be mine. And it is very fitting since Ellie loves to munch! It was surprisingly hard to find a green striped onesie that didn't have Christmas garb all over it, but I managed to find one made by a Swedish company.  So I sucked it up and paid way more than I should have for it.  I was able to rationalize it thinking that we could use it again. As you can see, our Hungriest Caterpillar looked very cute in her costume.  I even bought her some brown socks to complete the outfit but she kept kicking them off when we were trying to take photos.

On Halloween eve I took Ellie to a party hosted by my mom's group.  It was really fun to see all the babies dressed up.  There were a lot of animals - an owl, a fox, a chicken, two lions, a dinosaur, a zebra - and even some more creative costumes such as baby Bruce Lee complete with nun chucks.  Ellie had a good time but started to get overwhelmed by all the babies and moms in costume.  I don't blame her, even I started to get a little overwhelmed by the chaos.  Of course living in bay area it happened to be a warm day and all the babies were roasting in their fully decked out outfits.  I managed to snap a few photos before everyone started striping their costumes off.

Cece and Rusty came down to visit and were with us for Halloween.  We had a good time watching Halloween movies and handed out candy to trick or treaters.  We had a whopping 5 trick or treaters this year, which is up from our 4 from last year!  Once Ellie went to bed, Cece painted our faces in celebration of Dia de Los Muertos.  It is something she started doing for fun but has gotten really into it.  I think she should go pro and charge money for it. It took her a little over six hours to do both Tom and I but it was totally worth it. I'm sure if Ellie had woken up during the process she would have been really scared.

And to top it all off, Tom and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary.  Yay us! We left Ellie with her Tia and Unk and went out for some much needed adult time.  Tom took me to a restaurant that I had been lusting over for some time.  It's called Hay Market and it's a local, organic, sustainable restaurant in downtown Willow Glen.  We had good wine, and amazing dinner and even some froyo and a nice walk around the strip afterwards.  It was perfect for us. And just to prove how perfect we are for each other,  we even managed to buy each other the same anniversary card! No joke. Same exact card.  Just goes to show that we really are morphing into one conglomerate unit.  Go team Jauregui!

Oh yeah. That happened.
